High Pressure Misting Systems

High pressure misting systems are what most people are familiar with seeing. These types of misting systems are commonly found at restaurants, resorts, and residences in areas with extreme heat. The trademark of a high pressure misting system is the bold fog it creates and the cooling relief it provides on even the hottest days of summer. A high pressure misting system utilizes a specialized pump, known as a misting pump, to supply a misting system with high pressure water typically between 800 and 1,200psi. By using high pressure water provided from a misting pump, you are able to produce an extremely fine mist that can quickly evaporate into the surrounding air through a process known as "flash evaporation". This is what makes a high pressure system so efficient.

If your budget allows, we highly recommend installing a high pressure misting system. You will not regret it between the bold fogging effect it gives you and the cooling relief it provides. A high pressure misting system can lower the real feel temperature by as much as 30ºF. As with any misting system, the lower your humidity, the more efficient the misting system operates. This is because in areas with low humidity it is much easier for the mist to quickly evaporate due to the air being "dry". The more mist that evaporates, the more cooling relief you will feel!

Depending on your humidity level most if not all of the mist from a high pressure misting system will evaporate into the surrounding air. This makes a high pressure system desirable for people who do not want to get "wet

Low Pressure Misting Systems

A low pressure misting system operates off of standard household water pressure without the need for an expensive misting pump. The system can either be hooked up directly to a garden hose or to a garden hose faucet. A low pressure misting system typically operates between 50 and 80psi, depending on what your household water pressure is. These systems are best suited for someone who wants a misting system but cannot justify the cost to install a high pressure misting system. A low pressure misting system can still cool the real feel temperature by as much as 20ºF. For some people a low pressure system is the better way to go because it is more affordable while still providing a respectable amount of cooling relief. A high quality system will use high quality misting nozzles which produce a very fine mist. This prevents you from getting "soaking wet" and helps to ensure as much mist as possible evaporates into the surrounding air. Low pressure misting systems can cool the surrounding air by as much as 20ºF. Just like a high pressure system, the lower your humidity, the more cooling relief you will feel. This is because in areas with low humidity the mist can evaporate much faster due to the air being dry. A low pressure system will produce slightly bigger water droplets compared to a high pressure system, but again, if it is a high quality system you will not get soaked. Since low pressure systems do not require a pump you have two advantages over a high pressure system. First you don't have to worry about having a dedicated electrical outlet for a misting pump. Second you don't have to worry about the noise associated from a misting pump. Sometimes simpler is better and that is what you get with a low pressure system.
